Upgrading to WordPress 2.8

Today i upgraded my wordpress core to v2.8. More cool stuff and new feature. The admin user interface looks nicer especially for widget page, now you can drag and drop your widget and save with ajax. Also the new text editor for plugin and themes with syntax highlighting.

JS script loader Improvements

  • jQuery 1.3.2
  • Improvements to the script loader: allows plugins to queue scripts for the front end head and footer, adds hooks for server side caching of compressed scripts, adds support for ENFORCE_GZIP constant (deflate is used by default since it’s faster)
  • Load the minified versions of the scripts by default, define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true); can be used to load the development versions
  • Remove events from categories chechboxes in quick edit to speed up page unload
  • Make simple form validation and ajax-add new categories compatible with jQuery 1.3.1
  • Load farbtastic.js has to be loaded in the head

    Here's hoping more labels wise up and do this.

  2. Yesterday I upgraded my WordPress 2.7.1 version to 2.8. I approached this with considerable trepidation because I remember how easy it was a few weeks ago to install the blog for the first time. In my experience, anything that is easy to install is hard to upgrade!
