After 2 days being play around with new Ubuntu version 9.10 with code name “Karmic Koala”, I find that this version is nice and steady. Not like the disappointing Jaunty one. I’m pretty happy using this Ubuntu version. It is much faster, steady and stable. And I like the new Gnome too.
Now everything is working fine. The compiz is working great. Sound never stopped working. The performance is much faster and less resource consumption. My PC is Intel based with Core Duo processor @2.0GHz, 2 GB memory and Intel onboard VGA card. I started this Ubuntu with clean installation, I didn’t do upgrade. So I just formatted my hard drive and installed from scratch. And then I got satisfying performance.
The most important thing is Firefox browser performance is now much faster. Because most of the time I work using this browser. The only disappointment is they changed Pidgin to Empathy. I don’t feel Empathy is better than Pidgin. Maybe I should change back to Pidgin soon. By the way, the new version of Gnome is much nicer too.
So that’s my first impression using Ubuntu Karmic Koala. What’s yours?
