Nice And Steady Ubuntu Karmic Koala

Ads by Google

After 2 days being play around with new Ubuntu version 9.10 with code name “Karmic Koala”, i find that this version is nice and steady. Not like the disappointed Jaunty one.  I’m pretty happy using this Ubuntu version. It is much faster, steady and stable. And i like the new Gnome too.

Now everything is working fine. The compiz is working great. Sound never stop working. The performance is much faster and less resource consumption. My PC is Intel based with Core Duo processor @2.0GHZ, 2 GB memory and Intel onboard VGA card. I started this Ubuntu with clean installation, i didn’t do upgrade. So i just format my hard drive and install from scratch. And then i got a satisfying performance.

The most important is Firefox browser performance now is much faster. Because most of the time i work using this browser. The only disappointment is they change Pidgin to Empathy. I don’t feel empathy is better than Pidgin. Maybe i should change back to Pidgin soon. By the way, the new version of Gnome is much nicer too.

So that’s my first impression using Ubuntu Karmic Koala. What’s yours?

How did you solve the freezing problem with this latest version of Ubuntu? I have a problem with the installation or even using the Live CD that after Ubuntu boots it freezes. I’m still using Ubuntu 8.04LTS since its more stable than the recent versions of Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.
