User Profile Idea For The Firefox 4 Feature

Mozilla FirefoxThis is just an idea just came to my head when i read a news about Firefox 4. I have been using Firefox for a couple years now.  And to be honest Firefox still my best browser and Google Chrome come second. I have been thinking what if Mozilla Firefox have a feature for parallel user profiles? Different Firefox windows can have different profile running parallel.

Any user profile can be password protected for security. And every user profile have different cookies, browsing and download histories, caches, form ans search histories, Active logins, connection properties and site preferences. And different user profile can run parallel in different Mozilla windows/thread.

I knew that Mozilla Firefox already have user profiles feature since Firefox 3.5. But i want to add some feature for that. Like different user profiles can run parallel in different Windows.

So what is the advantages for this idea?
1. Different Windows can have different cookies, that means you can open different account of Gmail or Facebook or another account in different Mozilla Windows.
2. Different profile can be password protected. With this feature you can password your user profile with cookies, saved form information, and caches stored in it. And if someone use your Firefox and you haven’t logout your Facebook account or other account, they cannot open it.
3. Different profile can have different connection properties. With this feature you can have different proxy connection in different Windows. Sometimes i have to open a website that block my country IP, but i still have my other account opened. If i change my proxy, the other account will be closed because it will recognize as different IP.

And there are still plenty of advantages that i cannot think right now. But that’s the basic of my idea. I’m dreaming that someday i can open 4 Windows of Mozilla Firefox with different user profiles, and every windows different connection properties.

Yes, absolutely. And different profile can be encrypted with strong algorithm. I tried Firefox 4 Beta 1. But so far, haven't see my idea implemented.

I agree with your idea and I think you should try to spread it. As an alternative maybe we could have on official "portable app" for all operating systems. That way you would be able to run as many instances of different firefoxes as you like.
